Succulents and Foliage Wedding Theme

When our very own Miriam Faith florist, Kirsty prepared for her wedding last Spring, she knew she wanted foliage to play a big part in her day. Think herbs, grasses, tropical leaves and succulents. We're no stranger to a full finish, so we set to work creating the floral decor she had always dreamed of, with a few surprises and little touches carefully thrown in along the way.

For the ceremony backdrop, we decided to use Monstera Leaves, Aralia, Eucalyptus and Tree Fern to form a tropical x British blend of lush foliage, held together on a copper frame to design a show-stopping wall behind the happy couple. On a bigger scale, we recreated this for the band's backdrop (which Squiff is a part of) to extend the decor from St Luke's Church in Kentish Town to Cecil Sharp House in Camden where the celebrations carried on.

The foliage theme continued from the decor to the outfits, with us choosing to create a wild bouquet for Kirsty using Ammi, Skimmia, Pittosporum, Tree Fern and more. Because we know her so well we snuck in a few of her favourite flowers, 'Hanoi' Clooney Ranunculus too! The pastel pink and white, paper-thin petals of these flowers softened the edgy appearance of the foliage and complemented her elegant dress perfectly. Completing her outfit, we designed a Wax Flower and Rosemary headpiece tied delicately with ribbon. For the corsages and buttonholes we selected a combination of Wax Flower,  fresh herbs, dried grasses and succulents, each totally unique and a little wild.

We're sure you'll agree, the variety of these beautiful designs created depth and movement which transformed the venues and outfits. Both the couple and the florals were a joy to work with!

Love Unbroken Wedding Theme

It's not uncommon for couples to want to create something truly unique yet meaningful rather than opting for a theme or being on-trend. So when we teamed up with Rola from The New Wonderful on the 'Love Unbroken' styled shoot, together we knew our aim was to embrace this. We wanted to demonstrate how to weave beautiful hidden messages with luxury wedding design and encapsulate personalities, journeys and love into every part of the day. The title, 'Love Unbroken' refers to completeness and eternal love as symbolised by the wedding ring - something you will see we used as inspiration for our floral designs throughout this shoot.

Also inspired by Spring, we chose a dreamy, soft palette of cool tones throughout the venue and decor with golden crockery, urns and candles adding warmth and drama, breaking up any traditional feel. The overflowing centrepieces were made up of flowers of varying sizes, including beautifully fragrant Lilac Sweet Peas, 'Ocean Song' Lilac Roses, (a favourite of ours) 'White O'Hara' Garden Roses, Lilac Clematis, Lilac Scabiosa, Succulents, White Hydrangea, 'Vendella' Roses and 'Hanoi' Ranunculus - a popular choice for it's delicate petals.

The bold hoop wreaths were the most obvious of messages, representing the completeness of the rings. For each of them, we paired Italian Soft Ruscus with Lilac Sweet Peas, 'Ocean Song' Lilac Roses, 'White O'Hara' Garden Roses, Succulents, 'Vendella' Roses and 'Hanoi' Ranunculus for a full finish against the  brightly lit, inviting backdrop.  Making a statement in the centre where the couple would exchange their vows, surrounded by their circles of friends and family, we added more foliage to the larger wreath to contrast the pastel flowers.

Modernising the 'luxury' feel and complementing the sophisticated Leona dress, we created a wide, wild bridal bouquet, continuing with our love of Lilac Sweet Peas, 'Ocean Song' Lilac Roses, 'White O'Hara' Garden Roses, Lilac Clematis, Lilac Scabiosa, Succulents, Thlaspi, Eucalyptus and Asparagus  Fern which we also used on the Louis chairs. Notice how the chairs, flowers, cake, glasses, plates, vases, candles, urns and even earrings all were circular too?!

We loved working with Rola and other amazing vendors on this shoot, showcasing just some of the ways to make your wedding that extra bit special to the both of you, whilst wowing your guests.
